Thoughts about gynecology
Why specialize in gynecology? If you would have asked me at the beginning of medical school that I would be a gynecologist, I would have said you are crazy. I always thought I would be a family physician as I loved developing long relationships with people. When I worked in a family medicine office, I realized that I needed a bit more excitement and diversity of care. I then was able to see a baby born and that sealed it. OB/GYN is a unique specialty. We get to develop long-term relationships with patients, are able to do a lot of different procedures in the office, and we get to work in the operating room. It is a great mix, giving me the diversity of care that I enjoy.
