“Do or do not. There is no try.” A great quote from Yoda, a true Jedi Master. I believe in the underlying sentiment of this statement. Work hard, try hard, and do your best! As I start this blog, I keep Master Yoda’s advice in mind. I would like to develop a great site where patients can find information on gynecology as well as a place where they can get to know me.
I plan to develop topics and just discuss them in a way that relates to everyone. Education is an art, and a good teacher can relay information in ways that make sense to everyone. My best educator was a statistics professor in college. He had the gift of explaining concepts in many ways depending on what a particular student needed. He was truly amazing. I hope to emulate this practice as best I can. As I pick topics to talk about, I want to make sure they are timely and accurate without bias. I am an evidence-based physician. I go by the data and not what the current fad is. I look at the data and have a discussion with patients about what is best for them. The patient is the ultimate decider. I am there as the educator. There is so much misinformation floating around in medicine. Fads, expensive quick fixes, money focused providers, and other issues have inundated health care and have muddied the waters of good care. I hope to help a little with that problem. Let’s take this journey through gynecology and help educate ourselves about what the data shows and what options women have in their health care.
